The Edison-Lalande cell was developed by Thomas Edison from an earlier design by Lalande and  Chaperon. This particular model was used for things such as powering railway signals. It is strictly the porcelain container and lid, none of the actual battery hardware is with the item. 10 1/2'' tall, 7 '' wide and deep.
